About Americana Journeys
What is Americana Journeys? Born from the passing of my father I began a journey of discovery into the past of my family. As I began following strands of ancestral connections which reached as far back as the 1600s and 1900s when relatives from both sides arrived on these shores, even before they were called the colonies or United States or Canada. Fascinated with the journey taken by immigrants to the new lands of the American continent from their homes in a world away in old Europe, to seek a new dream. Traveling over time across the land, ever west, seeking perhaps a fertile piece of land they could call their own. From untamed territories which would come to be called Massachusettes, Rhode Island, Nova Scotia, New Amsterdam and New York, they would pack up and move ever westward to new territories, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, Illinois, Ohio, Wisconsin, Texas, Montana, Oklahoma, Oregon, until eventually reaching California. This is the American story of exploration and discovery.
